Dedicated to Education and Social Change, Teacher Jitendra Giri Goswami Honoured with ‘Teacher Honour 2026’
Daily Chhattisgarh Express honours him for his active contribution to education, innovation, environmental conservation and literature
Dabhra: Jitendra Giri Goswami ‘Jeet’, Assistant Teacher (Science) at Government Primary School Bansurkuli, has been honoured with the ‘Teacher Honour 2026’ for his notable contribution to education, innovative teaching, environmental conservation, literature, educational continuity among children affected by migration, and promotion of girls’ education.
The honour was conferred at a grand Teacher Honour Ceremony organised on the occasion of the 11th Foundation Day of Daily Chhattisgarh Express on September 6, 2026, at Krishna Palace, Dabhra, Sakti district.
The programme was attended by Tamradhwaj Sahu, former Home Minister of Chhattisgarh, as the Chief Guest, while Ramkumar Yadav, MLA, Chandrapur, presided over the event. Among the distinguished guests were the Collector, Sakti; Prafull Thakur, Superintendent of Police, Sakti; Kumudini Bagh, District Education Officer, Sakti; Rashmi Gavel, District President, Congress Committee, Sakti; Manoj Patel; Rajesh Singh Kshatri, Editor-in-Chief, Daily Chhattisgarh Express; and Rani Kshatri, Associate Editor, Daily Chhattisgarh Express, along with other dignitaries.
Goswami has consistently worked to make education a means of social transformation rather than limiting his role to classroom teaching. Through home visits, parent interaction and community participation, he has made efforts to reconnect children who were becoming distanced from school and to create a learning environment that encourages regular attendance and active participation.
He has also paid special attention to the education of children from migrant families, working to ensure that migration does not interrupt their educational journey. Through continuous dialogue with parents and community members, he has encouraged families to keep children connected with school and learning.
Girls’ education has also been an important part of his educational efforts. By engaging with parents and creating awareness about the importance of educating daughters, he has encouraged regular enrolment, attendance and continued education of girls, with the larger objective of helping them become confident, capable and self-reliant.
Innovation at the Heart of Learning
Goswami has promoted activity-based and joyful learning to make classroom education more engaging and meaningful. Initiatives such as ‘Best Out of Waste’, learning through play, use of digital educational resources, innovative teaching-learning materials and Bagless Day activities have been integrated into the learning process to encourage creativity, curiosity and experiential learning among children.
Creating Environmental Awareness Among Children
Environmental conservation is another significant area of his work. Through initiatives such as ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’, ‘One Tree in Teacher’s Name’, ‘One Pot in the Name of Martyrs’ and ‘One Child, One Plant’, he has encouraged students to understand the importance of nature and take responsibility for caring for plants.
His approach has focused not merely on plantation but also on nurturing and protecting plants, thereby developing a lasting sense of environmental responsibility among children.
A Teacher with a Strong Literary Presence
Alongside teaching, Goswami is actively involved in literature. His poems, songs, short stories and other literary works have been published in various newspapers, magazines, e-magazines and collaborative anthologies. His writings have appeared in more than 35 books and over 50 e-magazines and collaborative publications, reflecting his sustained engagement with creative writing.
He has previously received several honours, including the Teacher Talent Award, Outstanding Teacher Honour 2023 and 2024, Kavya Kalash Teacher Ratna Award 2025, First Prize in Short Story Writing 2026, and Dinkar National Poetry Honour, among others.
